Meditation helps to lessen pain through changes in the brain

Meditation helps to lessen pain through changes in the brain. A study by the Society for Neuroscience was unveiled at its annual meeting, which showed how meditation helps to alter the brain’s perception of pain. Study lead Dr. Fadel Zeidan and his colleagues of Wake Forest University School of Medicine in the USA observed the brain activity of study participants during 30-minute daily meditative practice. They found that after only four days, the participants reported reduced sensations of discomfort. Dr. Zeidan also found that meditation improved cognitive functions and multitasking ability as well as recalling items in a series, and completing timely tests. Dr. Zeidan and fellow researchers, our thanks for this exciting scientific discovery of how this activity can improve our daily lives. May many people find respite in the calming relief and other benefits of meditation and spiritual practice.?
