Now when I say basic, I don’t mean that it’s basic in the sense that there are better ones, because actually you won’t find a better meditation than this one. This is the basis of all meditation, whether you take a transom meditation or you pay them thousands of dollars to get a Montour, you can do all kinds of things and meditations out there. They’re not necessary. This is the basis of all meditation, very powerful, and if you learn this and you use it, it’s all that you’ll ever need. Now meditation is very important for the calming of the mind. I always laugh because people say to me, “Tana, I can’t meditate because I can’t calm my mind” and I always tell them “Well if you could, if you had a calm mind when you meditated, I’d be praying to you because you’d be enlightened. So the purpose of meditating is to make your mind calm. You do it to learn that. You don’t instantly have a calm mind. So the idea of the mind is to be active. Most of us, almost all of us, our mind controls us. Our thoughts control us. Meditation teaches us to control our mind, to control it as it should be. We should be the masters of our mind. Our minds should not be the masters of us. That’s why we have worry, fear, paranoia, anxiety, because we are controlled by our mind. We can’t clear our thoughts, insomnia. So meditation will help you gradually over time to have more and more control of your mind. Just by doing it on a daily basis, you’re going to notice a world of improvement. So, I’m going to teach you the meditation technique. Here’s all you do, very simple. You put your feet flat on the ground and you put your hands, palms up against your knees, and then you close your eyes. Let yourself just breathe normal for a few moments. Take a nice deep breath. That feels great, and then all you do is focus on your breath and as it goes in and out of your nostrils. That’s it. Just focus on the breath as it goes in and out. Now a few minutes after you do this, you going to notice your mind’s wandering off. You’re thinking about other things, got to go to the grocery store, or I’m hungry, got to pick up the kids, got to make dinner, whatever. Well, when you notice that your mind’s thinking of something else, when you notice you’ve lost focus of your breath going in and out of your nostrils, gently bring your attention back to your nostrils, back to the air in and out, and each time you’re aware that your mind has gone off to think of something else, just bring your breathing, your attention back to your breathing. I recommend doing this twice a day, five minutes in the morning, five minutes in the evening. Try to work up to ten, fifteen, or even twenty if you enjoy it, but ten minutes twice a day should definitely suffice and be plenty. Most people recommend fifteen to twenty, but I’d be happy if you do in ten. You’ll notice a huge difference on how you’d feel. You can set a timer. If you do, get a timer that’s gentle. Don’t get something that’s, you know, really loud and going to jolt you out of your meditation. Get a nice soft timer. Put on some nice music to come on when your five minutes are up. When your five minutes are up, just gently open your eyes. Don’t just do that you know. Gently open your eyes. Bring yourself back in the room and just gently open them. Try that and you’re going to notice yourself feeling a lot better, feeling a lot more peaceful, feeling a lot less worried and anxious about things, and you’ll notice your psychic ability starting to develop too.
