Yoga Poses & Meditation ow to Assume the Hero Pose in Yoga

Looking for a simple way to energize your legs? The Hero pose is a great way to do it. Namaste. I'm Cindy Mastry and we're going to show you how to do the Hero Pose. So we're going to come on to our knees and just take a seat on your heels. You want to have a nice long spine. Taking the feet out to the sides so that the heels are to the sides of your hips. The knees should come straight out from the hips, so you don't want your knees wide. Bring the knee thing close together so there is a straight line. Now if this is too much on your knees, you could always use a block to sit on or you could use a blanket if there's too much pressure underneath your knees. Moving your legs out to the side and pulling your calves out helps a little bit to get you down there 'cause ultimately you want to be seated on the floor. Find your long spine and if you like, you can take your palms back, fingertips towards the toes and press into your feet to lengthen up. Now it's also a good way to meditate in which case our hands would be forward. You want to roll the shoulders down and back and lengthen up through the crown of the head. So with Hero pose, we're energizing our legs, we're working and stretching our quadriceps and it's a great way to sit for meditation. Namaste.
