Zen Quote Explained by Meditation Master, Master Charles Cannon.
Welcome… “We have plenty of time during the twenty-four hours of the day for our domestic duties, for our business and our worries, so surely we can take a few minutes to refresh ourselves inwardly.” Hui Neng We live in a relative reality and all experience is relative. The default dominant relative polarity is the objective and we are therefore imbalanced to the objective world around us. Our focus is predominantly outside of ourselves. Our sleep-time provides the opposite polarity emphasis necessary to balance. It is dominantly subjective. Yet still we remain imbalanced and limited in our experience as a result. Do the math and you will understand. Eight hours of subjective sleep does not balance the remaining sixteen hours of the objectively focused day. In order to create the balance necessary for holistic experience… we must actualize additional subjective focus during the waking hours of the day. Meditation and wakefulness are the time-honored means for doing so. If we make time each day for meditation… we increase our subjective polarity. If we likewise practice wakefulness… of the subjective simultaneous to the objective… during the waking hours of the day… we radically increase our balance. Holistic experience is the result. This week… let us endeavor to increase our subjective focus during the twenty-four hours of the day. First… let us be regular in our daily practice of meditation. Second… let us cultivate wakefulness of the subjective simultaneous to the objective… during our waking hours. In these ways, we will increase our balance and enjoy truthful holistic experience… which is evermore radically fulfilling.
