Yoga Meditation Exercises etting Intentions for Yoga Meditation

A great way to find focus and centering for your yoga practice is to set an intention. You may have been in a class before and you heard teacher say, "Let's set an intention for our practice today". And you sit there with your eyes close in a blank mind going, "I don't know what to think about". So, I'm going to tell you. This intention can be a word, such as peace or gratitude. It can be a phrase, "I'm grateful for being alive". It can be a person. You can think about your mom, a family member, even a pet or a friend that may need the energy from your practice send to them as well. What intention does is help you find focus and clarity for you on the mat. And also, that intention can be carried off the mat. And usually what you do on your mat is an indirect reflection of how you live your life, how you approach life, how you put your energy out for the rest of your day. So as you close your practice, then you can reflect back on that intention and then see how your perceptions change towards that word, phrase or person and what you can do for the rest of your day to keep carrying that intention.
